Markos Moulitsas leaks ( on Twitter ) the results of the latest Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll, which has Marco Rubio surging against Gov. Charlie Crist (R-Fla.) in the 2010 GOP Senate primary. The trendlines: Likely Democratic candidate Rep. Kendrick Meek (D-Fla.), according to Kos, is a non-factor in the general election.  

Democrats who opposed the House-passed health care reform bill earlier this month have come under heavy fire from their party's left, including a top Internet activist who urged liberals to halt further contributions to the Democratic Party committee that finances their campaigns.  

We don't need intercepted dispatches to know there are intense discussions going on now about our national policy -- the marching orders are posted for all to see.  

After a host of battleground district House Democrats voted against the health care bill Saturday, liberal blogger Markos Moulitsas, founder of the widely read Daily Kos, urged followers of his blog to stop donating to another party committee — the DCCC, the committee charged with reelecting Democratic House incumbents — and instead contribute directly to candidates.  

For months, most of the action was on the Republican side, where conservative activists targeted the National Republican Senatorial Committee for its recruitment of moderate candidates and the National Republican Congressional Committee for its role in supporting a liberal GOP nominee in an upstate New York special election.  

In a sign of deep discontent with the Washington political establishment, restive activists in both parties are taking out their frustrations on the Democratic and Republican campaign committees and hitting party leaders where it hurts—in the pocketbook. Recognizing the key role campaign cash plays in lubricating the Beltway machine, conservative and liberal activists alike are organizing efforts to withhold cash from the party committees in the hopes of forcing top party leaders and members of Congress

With the finish line for health care reform in sight, progressive groups are taking an aggressive approach to make sure that Democrats in Congress vote with their party.

Democrats who thought a vote against the sweeping health care package would inoculate them from political attack are facing serious blowback from angry constituents and interest groups on the left—fierce opposition that could prove as consequential as anything Republicans could have thrown at them.
